What are Electronic sports (eSports)? It is a sport where players compete with each other by playing games. If we compare it to physical sports, eSports have higher flexibility since it is not bound to a physical object such as sports grounds and sports halls. The essential thing eSports possesses is high potential in generating substantial commercial values, cosplay, training and tech developments.
eSports influence is spreading all around the globe, and it can maybe become an official Olympic Sport in 2020. eSports don't have any obstacles like limits to race and faith equality; it is a fair and legal process where two or more individuals play a competitive game, and specific rules decide the winner. China saw the potential of electronic gaming and are already investing.
The project should be completed by the end of 2018.
The whole complex is known as Zhongxian E-Sports Stadium, and it is located in the Chongqing, China near the bank of the Yangtze River.
The arena itself will have seats for 7,000 people and two additional “wings“, that can expand and offer extra 13,000 more seats. If visitors cannot get their tickets on time, the glass panels on the exterior of the stadium offer LED screens that will stream the matches live.
The project includes a five-star hotel that will be added to the main arena and the stadium complex. The hotel will have over 64,000 square feet in size (~6000 m2).
Maybe the most exciting thing is the incubation center. The center's primary purpose is to help in developing young eSport talents and boost their skills in a particular game. The incubation area will have over 80,000 square feet, and it will contain comprehensive facilities like eSports expo, VR Tube, Training Center, Catwalk, Hairdresser, Dance studio, R&D rooms, cafeteria, restaurants, etc.
Some market analysts predict that in the next year more than 420,000,000 people will be watching competitive eSports regularly and that they are used to eSports events we can see from more than 45,000 people visited League of Legends Championship in Seoul's World Cup Stadium. Blizzard Entertainment has already dedicated several halls in Taipei and Los Angeles to eSport events. Also, China has over 600 million gamers worth about a quarter of the worlds $101 billion video game market/industry, so we will see more and more dedicated eSport stadiums built.
