We have already seen the building of the first eSports stadium in China if you haven't you can read about it here:

Arlington is a principal city in the U.S. state of Texas, located in Tarrant County. It has around 400,000 people living there making it the third-largest municipality in the metropolitan area. The city has partnered with eSports Ventures to design the project for this stadium. It should go live by the end of this year. The stadium should be built in the city's entertainment district. An interesting fact is that Arlington is also home to Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys.

The Arlington Convention Center is planned to be transformed into the new eSports venue. Right now it serves as a trade show, meeting venue and as a famous convention center.

Jeff Williams, the mayor of the city, stated: Being on the forefront of new ideas and setting trends is in our DNA and part of who we are at The American Dream City, Esports Stadium Arlington will further cement our city's status as a national and international tourist destination. Players and fans will come here for the tournaments and they'll stay even longer to experience everything Arlington has to offer.

There are speculations that this deal between the city of Arlington and eSports Ventures consists of a 10-year lease on the space, with a 10-year renewal option if both sides agree. The investment should pay itself out of the contract, revenue from tournaments and other naming rights. A company called NGAGE eSports will manage the stadium, and the broadcast rights and other event management will be done in the collaboration with OpTic Gaming and the Houston Outlaws (a successful Overwatch team).

The stadium itself should hold up to 1,000 viewers and other VIP amenities, space for competitive events, training rooms for teams, a big broadcast studio equipped with the latest tech, retail and social outlets. But this is not yet confirmed; it depends on the details of the contract that haven't been announced yet.

Ron Price the president and CEO of the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau said: We are creating the most unique and technologically advanced space available for meetings and conventions in North Texas. The production capabilities and technological innovations being introduced to the current facility are like nothing the market has seen before,” Price said. “Arlington’s ability to deliver an elevated customer experience can only serve to expand the meeting and convention market for the city.

What this means for the city of Arlington is that it will improve the quality of life and the economic opportunities and organizing partnerships with various sponsors to boost the revenue. This project is similar to the Poland city of Katowice who also got their own eSports stadium. They started this few years ago, and now the city is reaping the prizes of their hard work. The IEM Katowice is one of the most successful tournaments in the world, and more than 300,000 tourists annually visit the city of Katowice just because of their investments in eSports. This is a multi-million dollar investment, and it is focused on the young generations / Millennials, and considering how much eSports has grown in the past few years it should be a significant investment with a huge return potential.
