The career of NFL player is very fragile. Their performance could decline or even an injury can be the beginning of the end for a star. In Kareem Hunt’s case, his actions off the field are doing the most damage. His career has instantly turned upside down.

On Friday, TMZ released a video that showed Hunt getting into an altercation with a 19-year-old woman. Hunt appeared to shove her multiple times while people were trying to hold him back. He shoved a man into the woman and she fell. That’s when Hunt kicked her while she was down.

According to a police report obtained by TMZ, witnesses gave conflicting reports of what led to the incident. Hunt told them when he returned to his room in Cleveland, he found a man with two women. He told one woman to leave when he discovered how old she was.

Alternately, the woman said she was kicked out of the room because she refused to be one of the men in the room. Witnesses told police that she banged on the door and yelled in the hallway. She also used racial slurs and insults toward Hunt. Either way, Kareem was screwed no matter how it happened.

Once the NFL caught wind of the video, Hunt was immediately placed on the Commissioner except list. As of right now, he cannot participate in football activities while the incident is under investigation.

Kansas City Chiefs their star running back immediately after learning about the video. The release of Hunt sheds light on not only what the team thought of the video but also the story behind their decision. The Chiefs made a public statement concerning the incident.

“Earlier this year, we were made aware of an incident involving Kareem Hunt. At that time, the National Football League and law enforcement initiated an investigation into the issue. As part of our internal discussions with Kareem, several members of our management team spoke directly to him. Kareem was not truthful in those discussions. The video released today confirms that fact. We are releasing Kareem immediately.”

Kareem’s first mistake was fighting a female. The internet is undefeated. Sooner or later somebody was going to show the video of what happened.

Hunt’s second mistake was lying to the Chiefs. Whatever story he told was different than what had occurred in the video. As a result, he gets released on the spot the same way Ray Rice did.

The NFL failed again at being more proactive about handling incidents like this. They wait until a video surfaces to give any kind of punishment. They didn’t get to the tape. TMZ beat them to the punch once again.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are losing arguably their best weapon on offense. Since Hunt came into the league he has been nothing short of sensational. He’s had over 2,000 rushing yards in less than two seasons. Not to mention he has helped the Chiefs have one of the best records in the NFL.

Unfortunately, the young man’s productive career has been derailed. Hunt came out in response to everything that’s transpired. “I want to apologize for my actions. I deeply regret what I did. I hope to move on from this.”

In less than 24 hours, Kareem Hunt went from being a star to being out of a job. No matter how great of a player you are, decisions off the field can prove to be costly. Maybe Hunt will get a second chance. Nevertheless, it won’t be anytime soon.
