Okay, let me start by saying that I drove like a maniac down 4 freeways to get here.
And it was worth every grueling mile.
Being that it was a journey I probably won't make often, I packed in as much as I could hold. So settle in! This might take a while. From Eggs Benedict to craft cocktails and every brunch food you could imagine, (including a side of Corned Beef Hash), this place is bound to have a dish with your name on it. And with it being just a stone's throw away from that gorgeously-clean ocean and boardwalk, and plenty of high-priced shops, this place is a perfect little getaway any time of the year. Now, to the food!
BACON-CHEDDAR BUTTERMILK BISCUITS: These foodgasmic little pieces of Heaven, as well as the amazing Maple Butter they come with are indescribable. They actually have their own Facebook page. That's how freakishly good they are! You cannot come to MB Post and not have these. You just can't.
POMEGRANATE COUS COUS: If you're looking for something on the lighter, healthier, yet filling side, this mildly sweet cous cous dish is the way to go. It has little cubes of soft lavender cheese, pomegranate seeds, grapefruit, almonds, and what I assume was either yogurt or sour cream with mint on the side.
RICOTTA STUFFED FRENCH TOAST: I wish I could just post a picture right here of this pretty little piece of sweet, sweet Heaven. Two deliciously-crispy, gooey, delectable slab of French toast stuffed with creamy ricotta cheese and topped with candied barlett pears, candied almonds and a fluffy whipped topping to make it extra special.
TRUFFLE HONEY-LACED FRIED CHICKEN: I mean, if that name alone is not enough to make you want to order it, then I don't know what is. However, I can attest to the skin being super-crispy, the tender white meat being super-juicy, and the seasoning being so perfectly-blended in that you wouldn't even know it was there. It also comes with a side of kohlrabi slaw, if that means anything to you.
And last, but certainly not least:
THE 'ELVIS' PUDDING: This is, by far, THE most rich and delectable pudding I have ever tasted. It's a thick chocolate pudding, with peanut butter mousse, sliced banana pieces, and crunchy pecans mixed in. It isn't overly sweet or heavy, which makes it the perfect ending to such a lavish meal. Jell-O, eat your heart out.
And if you care about the the SERVICE: The waiters/waitresses here are super friendly, and always happy to give recommendations. So don't be afraid to ask.
Oh, but it's not cheap. So, save your pennies, if you have to. For, it is worth it.
The ONLY low point I would say this place has is that the communal tables are pretty cramped, and you have to kind of fight for some elbow room. Which can be pretty awkward if you don't know the person sitting next to you. But you know what can fix that? RESERVATIONS!
