Ravens reach deal with speedy WR John Brown

The Baltimore Ravens are close to reaching a deal with Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown once the league year begins on Wednesday March 14. The four-year player out of Pittsburgh State signed a one-year, 5M deal with incentives up to 6.5M.

In Browns second year with the Cardinals in 2015 was his best year as a pro. He had a career high 65 catches, 1,003 receiving yards, seven touchdowns with 66.9 yards per game. Since 2015, Brown lost his thunder.

He's totaled five touchdowns, 716 yards, and 60 catches in the past two seasons. The receiver also has sickle cell disorder and has dealt with toe, hamstring, quadriceps and back injuries over the last two years.

He played 10 games, caught 21 passes on 299 receiving yards with three touchdowns. His top performance came last year against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with 3 catches, 63 receiving yards and one touchdown.

In his career, Brown has played in 56 games and caught 173 passes with 2,515 receiving yards on 17 touchdowns. With Brown at the slot in Baltimore with his speed, the Ravens could develop a speed tandem with Jeremy Maclin and Mike Wallace.

Wallace had the longest touchdown for the Ravens last year for 66 yards. He had four touchdowns and lead the Ravens with 748 receiving yards.

Maclin had three touchdowns with 40 receptions on 440 receiving yards last season.
