In 24 minutes of action, Milwaukee Bucks back-up point guard Brandon Jennings displayed an all-around great performance on Monday with 16 points, 12 rebounds and eight rebounds in a 121-103 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. He signed a 10-day contract with the Bucks on Sunday after playing seven games with the Wisconsin Herd in the G-League.
In the G-League, Jennings showed off his offensive prowess and ability to orchestrate the offense. He averaged 21 points, seven assists and four rebounds.
As far as efficiency goes in his first game back in the NBA, Jennings shot 5-9 from the field and also went 3-6 from deep. He was also a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line.
Before the G-League, Jennings played in China for the Shanxi Brave Dragons for 13 games and averaged 27 points, seven assists and three rebounds. It's the second stint with the Bucks in his eight-year career and first game back with the Bucks since 2013. He's played for five different teams and was drafted 10th overall by the Bucks in the 2009 NBA Draft.
In Jennings first game as a rookie back in 2009 for the Bucks, Jennings ironically nearly recorded a triple-double with 17 points, nine rebounds and nine assists in 34 minutes of action against the Philadelphia 76ers.
In his first game back with Milwaukee, Jennings showed pride and had some butterflies in his first time back in the NBA.
The 28-year old veteran said that his mid was messed up after tearing his Achilles in January 2015 back in Detroit which was a huge setback for him. When he was in China for a little over four months, he got his swagger back.
“I just was able to find myself again mentally,” Jennings said. I always wanted to bounce back from that … but I just did a lot of manifest. I manifest a lot about positivity. So I tried to get a lot of negative thoughts and things out of my head and it really helped me.”
The veteran's point guard presence can give a colossal boost to the Bucks who are just hanging on to a current playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Bucks leading scorer Giannis Antetokounmpo said that Jennings would be a huge help to get Milwaukee to the playoffs.
The Bucks next game is scheduled on Wednesday on the road against the Orlando Magic (20-47) at 7:00 p.m. Milwaukee is seeking their third straight win after dropping 7 of their last 11 games.
