Gameweek 11Match 7: Manchester City vs. Arsenal

This is one of the best games played so far this season with 2 top quality sides coming up against each other in this fixture. Man. City have dominated the league so far while Arsenal are doing well in 5th place. This is an important match because it can really prove how good City are and if they’re as good as everyone says they are. City are undefeated this season with 9 wins and 1 draw which is absolutely incredible and so far they’re completely smashing the competition.

City have a plus 29 goal difference and have scored 35 times and conceded 6. This means they average 3.5 goals per game and 0.6 goals conceded per game. It’s incredible how they’ve managed to keep up this fantastic form week after week from the beginning of the season. It will be interesting to see if their attack or defence breaks in this tough match and it will be interesting to see what they do and how they adjust if something falls apart for them.

Two players who will be crucial for Man. City are Leroy Sane and Kevin De Bruyne. Both these players have been absolutely incredible this season and have been smashing it. Sane has a ridiculous 6 goals and 5 assists in 10 games and he’s the reason that Man. City are so consistently good. His pace allows him to dart forward and collect the through balls that De Bruyne plays to him which have been where most of his goals are coming from. De Bruyne is probably the the best passer in the league and has gained himself 6 assists and a good goal this season. De Bruyne is always able to pick out a pass and is the center of their great attacking moves. These 2 players have been the best players in the Premier League so far and with the form they’re both in there’s no stopping them.

It’s hard to name just a few players from this Man. City squad who could make an impact because the thing that makes this team so good is the fact that everyone is always involved and everyone plays well. I do think that against a tough opponent Man. City are going to have to showcase their defensive ability in this match and try to hold off players like Lacazette, Sanchez and Ozil. If the defence is successful Man. City should have a good game ahead of them but if not they’ll have to work hard in attack to outscore their opposition. Sterling will be another player who will be important because he’s scored 7 and assisted 2 this season. Whichever striker plays for Man. City, either Jesus or Aguero, needs to make an impact on the game even if they’re just there to clean up what another player left for them.

Arsenal will find this match tough as any side would because Man. City have been in majestic form recently. If Arsenal want to win this their defence will have to be perfect and they’ll have to make sure that Man. City can’t pass it around them like they love to. If the Arsenal defence can shut City out this could be a much more interesting game however it’s unlikely that they’ll get a clean sheet against a side that scores so frequently. A strategy that might work for Arsenal in this game is counter-attacking when players like Otamendi and Walker rush forward. If they can take advantage of these situations with fast players like Bellerin and Sanchez they could have a chance at this game.

A key player for Arsenal in this match will be Alexis Sanchez. He wasn’t all that great at the beginning of the season but he’s starting to pick up the pace and get back to where he was last season and it will be interesting to see how he does against the club that were looking to sign him this summer. Sanchez hasn’t been great this season but he looks like he’s starting to improve his form and if he has a good game here Arsenal could do okay in this match.

Lacazette is another player that needs to play well in this match for Arsenal to stand a chance. He’s scored 5 goals this season and he’s done well so far so it will be interesting to see if he can break down this great Man. City defence. Kolasinac could be crucial to the success of Arsenal in this game as well. This is because they’ll need him to play well at the back but he’s also great going forward and has 1 goal and 3 assists this season. Ozil hasn’t had a great season so far but like Sanchez, he’s looked better lately and might provide something in this match.

Although Arsenal are a good side they’ve been nowhere near as good as Man. City and unless they get lucky with counter-attacks I don’t think they’ll win this game. The depth of the Man. City squad will be too much for Arsenal to cope with and I don’t think Arsenal will be able to hold off Man. City’s great attacking moves. Man. City will win this one because of the fact that everyone gets involved when they attack and everyone is always on the move. Man. City will win 3-1.
