Not many people expected the Seattle Seahawks to make the playoffs this season. They finished the regular season with a 10-6 record and the number five seed in the NFC. Seattle was handed a 24-22 loss on the road in the Wild Card Round on Saturday night at the Dallas Cowboys. The Seahawks overachieved this season.
Seattle had one of the best rushing offenses in the NFL this, Dallas slowed it down on Saturday night. Russell Wilson played well once again and he wasn't the reason they lost the game. The Seahawks should have called more passing plays, but they didn't. Where does this team go from here?
Seattle will have seven picks in the 2019 NFL Draft. This team needs more help on the offensive line. Heading into this season, the Seahawks had one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. As the season moved on, it looked better. However, Wilson's mobility makes it look better than it actually is. They could use an interior lineman or another offensive tackle.
Doug Baldwin and Tyler Lockett are reliable receivers for Russell Wilson to throw to, but the Seattle Seahawks could use a tall athletic receiver. They don't get much production at the tight end spot either.
On the defensive side of the ball, Seattle could use another defensive lineman. A strong defense has been the identity of this team ever since Pete Carroll has been the head coach of this football team.
This defense played as a cohesive unit this season. They didn't have any egos inside the locker room. The Seahawks released cornerback Richard Sherman last season. Speaking of cornerbacks, Tre Flowers played well as a rookie and Shaquill Griffin played well in his second season. It wouldn't hurt for this team to draft another cornerback.
Saftey Earl Thomas had a season ending injury in Week 4 on the road against the Arizona Cardinals. He has been a main part of this defense ever since being drafted in 2010. Thomas is 29 years old and he will most likely not be re-signed. If that's the case, Seattle could very well use their first-round pick on safety Deionte Thompson from Alabama.
Head Coach Pete Carroll signed a contract extension near the end of the season. If he didn't sign the contract extension, Carroll's contract would have expired. The Seattle Seahawks won't have it easy again next season because the Los Angeles Rams will be once again and the San Francisco 49ers will be better next season.
