The New York Giants Can't Seem to Get it Right

After the New York Giants lost to the Tennessee Titans 17-0 at home on Sunday afternoon, they were officially eliminated from playoff contention. New York has missed the playoffs the last five-out-of-six seasons. This is inexcusable for a big market franchise.

Their are problems with this team and it starts with ownership. John Mara has made this franchise into a laughing stock even though they have played better lately. He continues to hold onto the past instead of looking to the future.

Head Coach Pat Shurmur said that Eli Manning will start Week 16 for the Giants on the road against the Indianapolis Colts. He also mentioned in a statement that Manning has years left in him.

This is mind boggling that Shurmur would say this stuff. I don't think he is that foolish and I bet General Manager David Gettleman and Owner John Mara is telling him to say this stuff to the media.

If management is going to have a say on who starts at quarterback rather than the head coach himself, then why is he even coaching the team to begin with?

Kyle Lauletta needs to be starting these final two weeks and the Giants are making the same mistake as last year when they decided not to play Davis Webb. Lauletta played in a game earlier in the year against the Washington Redskins on the road and he went 0-for-5 with an interception. Is that what the Giants are going to do him after a short stint? Not give him another chance? It is honestly disgraceful if that is the case.

Does this franchise have any idea what direction they are heading in? Are they okay with settling for mediocrity from year-to-year because that is what they have been doing.

Manning is 37 years old folks and it's past his time. No team holds onto the past forever, but John Mara is doing a tremendous job of that. The New York Giants need to take a page out of the Baltimore Ravens playbook. Baltimore plans to move on from Joe Flacco at the end of the season. He is 33 years old and Flacco won them a Super Bowl title.

Lamar Jackson is 21 years old and he has given them a spark and they are in good shape to make it to the postseason. Jackson has taken control of the offense now and that is what the New York Giants are missing.

Manning will have another year left on his contract after this season and he isn't worth the money. They need to fix this roster up and keeping him around will only delay it for another season.

Eli Manning is still in the NFL because of Odell Beckham Jr. Also, a lot of people have criticized the Giants for drafting running back Saquon Barkley instead of a quarterback, but he has been a total stud for them.

The New York Giants need to use their first-round pick on a quarterback this upcoming NFL Draft. The good old days of Manning winning them two Super Bowls is gone. If they keep him around for the next couple of years, it seems like that the franchise doesn't get it.
