The Denver Nuggets Start Isn't a Joke

The Denver Nuggets start to the 2018-2019 season is an impressive one. They are 9-1 and they are just 0.5 games back of the Golden State Warriors. Before the season began, I thought Denver would be a very good team, but I didn't think they would be this good off the bat.

The Nuggets won 46 games a season ago and they missed the playoffs by one game. Had Denver defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves on the road during the last game for the regular season, the Nuggets would have been in the postseason.

Instead, they are still in a playoff drought and the Denver Nuggets have not been there since the 2012-2013 season. They were the number three seed that season and they lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games in the first-round that year.

If Denver keeps this up, they will be in the playoffs without a doubt. Speaking of which, is their start no fluke or is it a fluke?

They already beat two elite teams at home this season against the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics.

Denver is ranked 13th in the NBA in points per game at 111.8. They have given up the fourth fewest points per game in the NBA at 102.4. The Denver Nuggets are winning their games by an average of 10 points.

Jamal Murray and Gary Harris is one of the best back courts in the NBA. Murray is averaging 18.9 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 3.4 APG, and 1 SPG. Harris is averaging 18.3 PPG, 4 RPG, 3.2 APG, and 1.2 SPG.

Nikola Jokic is one of the best players in the NBA and he is the most important player on this team. He is averaging 17 PPG, 10 RPG, 7.7 APG, 1 BPG, and 1.1 SPG. Paul Millsap is averaging 12.7 PPG, 7.5 RPG, and 1.2 BPG so far this season.

The Denver Nuggets also have very good role players like Mason Plumlee, Monte Morris, Trey Lyles, and Juancho Hernangomez.

Isaiah Thomas has yet to play a game for them this season. Michael Porter Jr., who was the 14th overall pick in the NBA Draft, has yet to play a game this season as well. He is still recovering from offseason back surgery.

Michael Malone is the current Denver Nuggets Head Coach. He has been coaching the team since the 2015-2016 season.

The Denver Nuggets start isn't a joke because they have a very good roster and they are getting very good bench play. Denver is good defensively and they can score as well. Jokic is also a force that no one talks about. They have the pieces to make a playoff run this season.
