Where do the Dallas Cowboys go from Here?

The Dallas Cowboys were bounced from the playoffs once again when they lost to the Los Angeles Rams 30-22 on Saturday night on the road. Dallas was a better football team when they acquired wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Oakland Raiders for a first-round pick. Cooper made a huge difference in the passing game for Dak Prescott.

Prescott deserves a contract extension this offseason, but he shouldn't be paid $25-$30 per season. Speaking of contract extension, it is quite possible the Cowboys give Head Coach Jason Garrett one but former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens think it is time to move on from him.

I don't think Dallas would move on from him right now. If they miss the playoffs next season they could move on from him then. A lot of people thought his job was in jeopardy after the Dallas Cowboys started the season 3-5. They finished with a 10-6 record and won the NFC East. Dallas also beat the Philadelphia Eagles twice.

The defense was one of the reasons why they played so much better down the stretch. Linebackers Jaylen Smith and Leighton Vander Esch made a difference on the defensive side of the ball and so did defensive end Demarcus Lawrence. He will be a free agent this offseason and the Cowboys need to keep him around. If they let him go this offseason, it would be a big loss for them.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott has one more year left on his rookie contract plus another year-option. The Dallas Cowboys will need to pay him soon because he is one of the best running backs in the league. Elliott is one of the main catalysts on the offensive side of the ball. He is also running behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

Dallas has won the NFC East crown for the past two-out-of-three years. They have only won one playoff game in that span and the Cowboys have only won three playoff games over the past 20 years. They have not won the Super Bowl since 1996.

This team has the talent in the future to win another one. It will be tough for this team to get back to the playoffs next season, but they can certainly get there. It is rare these days for teams in the NFC East to win back-to-back division titles.

The Dallas Cowboys will have either five or six draft picks in the 2019 NFL Draft. This team could use another player in the secondary, another interior lineman, and another defensive lineman.
