Memphis Grizzles Put Marc Gasol and Mike Conley on Trade Block, Where Will They Go?

The Memphis Grizzles are starting to slid in the Western Conference Standings. They are currently sitting in 14th place in the west with a 19-28 record. Memphis has lost their last six games and they are 6.5 games back of the Utah Jazz for the eighth spot in the west. Because of their recent slide, the Grizzles are listening to trade offers for center Marc Gasol and point guard Mike Conley.

Memphis feels like they could get very good returns for both of these players. I am sure they want some draft picks in these deals because the Memphis Grizzles are rebuilding. They are also saying that they want to build this team around 19-year-old rookie Jaren Jackson Jr. He is going to be a star in the league for years to come.

Gasol is already 33 years old. He will have one more year remaining on his contract after this season. Marc Gasol is averaging 15.3 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 4.7 APG, 1.3 BPG, and 1.2 SPG so far this season. Some playoff contending teams could use his size and rebounding. He is also a very good rim protector.

The Houston Rockets could be one trade destination for him. I understand they have Clint Capela and he is currently injured and is expected to be back at some point, but Gasol would be an upgrade to what they have right now.

The Washington Wizards could be another trade destination for Gasol. Thomas Bryant has started at center ever since Dwight Howard went down with an season ending injury. Bryant has played well in his absence, but adding Marc Gasol could possibly ship him out of Washington. Thomas Bryant is 21 years old and he could be one of the players Memphis wants in return.

A trade that works according to the ESPN trade machine is Ian Mahinmi, 19-year-old Troy Brown Jr., and Thomas Bryant. Brown Jr. could also be a young player that the Grizzles would want in return but I don't think they would trade him. The Washington Wizards are only two games back of the Charlotte Hornets for the eighth seed in the east. That is one of the reasons why I think Washington would try and make a move for Marc Gasol.

The San Antonio Spurs could be another team that trades for Marc Gasol. Pau Gasol also plays for San Antonio. Pau and Marc are brothers and it could work well for the Spurs. Marc would fit perfectly into Greg Popovich's system. The Spurs are good once again this season and will look to make a championship run.

Mike Conley is 31 years old. He has two years remaining on his contract. Conley is averaging 19.8 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 6.1 APG, 0.3 BPG, and 1.3 SPG so far this season. The perfect fit for him would be the Philadelphia 76ers.

Philadelphia would probably trade away Markelle Fultz. He was the number one pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Fultz would be in a new location and he is only 20 years old. Markelle Fultz could be one of the cornerstone pieces with Jaren Jackson Jr. in Memphis.

Mike Conley would be the perfect veteran inside the 76ers locker room. A potential starting lineup of Mike Conley, J.J. Reddick, Jimmy Butler, Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid is scary.

The Los Angeles Clippers could be another destination for Mike Conley, but I don't think the Clippers would want to trade players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander or Sindarius Thornwell.

I think the Memphis Grizzles will find a trade partner for both Marc Gasol and Mike Conley and officially start over.
