When DeMarcus Cousins signed with the Golden State Warriors this off-season for one year, many people were shocked. Now, those same people will be shocked to hear that there is a chance Cousins may resign with the Warriors.
One reason why Cousins may resign with the Warriors is because they aren't a dysfunctional team. There isn't much drama there and the players and coaches get along well. That has not been the case for Cousins. He doesn't get along with other coaches but that hasn't been the case with the Warriors.
It is important to remember that Cousins hasn't played a game so far this year. He tore his Achilles tendon in January and has been recovering since. His injury lead to few offers from teams in the off-season and Cousins had the last laugh by signing with the Warriors. The real test for Cousins will begin when he does start to play.
Will Cousins be like his former self or will his injury hinder his performance? The Warriors need Cousins to dominate because they lack a big man. Cousins will need to fill in big shoes and that will determine if the Warriors repeat as champions or lose this year.
The one big issue that might prevent Cousins with resigning with the Warriors is that they won't be able to pay him. Golden State has to resign Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green during the next two years. Unless one of those players leaves, Cousins won't be seeing a big paycheck from the Warriors.
Cousins resigning with the Warriors will give them a top-notch center. That is one thing they haven't had. If they do, they will be unstoppable.
